To match you with other participants based on your language preferences.
To provide you with your group or table number for the event.
To improve our services and language matching algorithm.
Optional: If you choose to subscribe, we will use your email address to send you marketing and informational emails, including:
Event announcements and updates.
Language learning tips and community news.
Promotional offers from Flip Lingoes.

User Experience: We use city information to display relevant upcoming events in your login area. For example:

If you register in Berlin, your login area will show upcoming events in Berlin by default.
Similarly, if you are from Amsterdam, you will see events in Amsterdam.

We also use your information:

To send you emails related to your account, including password resets and verification purposes.

3. Business Analysis

We may use aggregate data collected to:

Perform business analysis.
Assess the balance of languages at our events.
Understand participant demographics. Aggregate or anonymized survey data may be used for analysis and product development.

4. Legal Basis for Processing Your Data

For marketing communications (newsletters, updates, promotional offers from Flip Lingoes): Emails are sent only if you have actively opted in by ticking the relevant checkbox. We will process your email for this purpose based on your clear and voluntary consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time by unsubscribing from emails.
Other data processing (account creation, matching, event logistics) is based on your agreement to participate and the necessity to perform the service.

5. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information only as long as necessary to:

Fulfill the purposes we collected it for.
Satisfy any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.
For marketing emails: We will retain your email address only while you remain subscribed, i.e., only if you opted in, or until you withdraw your consent.

7. Data Sharing and Third-Party Processors

We may use trusted third-party providers (for example: email service providers, analytics platforms, and payment processors) to perform services on our behalf. If used, these providers will process personal data as our processors under written contracts that require them to implement appropriate technical and organisational measures and to process data only on our instructions.

8. International Transfers

Some of our service providers store or process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where we transfer data outside the EEA, we do so only where an adequate level of protection is guaranteed (for example, under an adequacy decision) or via appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 without parental consent. If you believe we have collected data from a child under 16, contact us and we will delete it.
