  • A practical and fun way to learn languages through real conversations with real people.

  • Anyone curious enough to learn a language. Our events are generally for adults, and there’s no upper age limit.

  • Flip Lingoes language exchanges make it easy to practise a language through real conversation.

    Tell us the language you speak and the language you’re learning. We use this information to match you with fluent speakers and place you in a small group.

    Then you flip between languages every five minutes. For five minutes, you practise your target language with a fluent speaker. Then you switch and help someone else practise yours.

    It’s a simple, balanced way to practise speaking, meet people and turn what you’ve learned into real conversations.

    You can join us in person or online — the Flip Lingoes format stays the same.

  • We open early to give you time to arrive, check in and get assigned to a group. We recommend arriving early, especially if it’s your first time at one of our events. Please make sure you arrive before entry closes, as late entry is not possible.

  • Each event has a single-entry fee, and you can also purchase event credit bundles to save money and make joining future events even easier. With a bundle, you won’t need to purchase a single credit every time you want to join an event — simply use your credits whenever you’re ready to attend.

    Event credits are valid for up to 6 months, giving you plenty of flexibility to use them at your own pace.

  • All payments are cashless and processed through the Flip Lingoes web app.

  • Both options are available. You can pay in advance to save time at check-in, or complete payment during registration when you arrive.

    We advise paying in advance as it gives you one less thing to do when you arrive. Simply scan your QR code and you’re in.

    Purchase credits

  • After purchasing your credits, you’ll receive a QR code in your Flip Lingoes account. Scan your QR code at the check-in desk. Once registration closes, we’ll assign you to a small group. Refresh the registration page to see your table number.

  • Your credit includes:

    • Access to the language exchange event
    • Matching with fluent speakers and learners through our platform
    • A structured language exchange experience
    • A small snack after the event
    • Optional social time with the wider community

    We take care of the matching and structure, so you can focus on speaking.

    Your entrance fees help support this project and its expansion online and into other cities. We really appreciate your support and hope to get more people speaking languages!

  • No, drinks are not included.

    The events are hosted at carefully selected independent venues that provide the space for our language learning community. We kindly ask you to support our partner venues and encourage you to purchase a minimum of one drink from the bar after you check in.

  • Anything and everything.

    The goal is natural flowing conversation, so no need to worry about topics. Participants join to learn languages, share cultures, and meet open-minded people. Once you get started, the hardest part will be to end the conversations :)

  • All levels are welcome.

    However, if you are a complete beginner, we recommend first building some basic knowledge through classes. If needed, we can suggest partner language schools to help you get started.

  • Typically 50+ participants per city. The online events are growing and we encourage you to connect.

  • For sure we have the most common European languages, and often Asian languages. However, the language groups are built from the languages people actually registered with, so the mix is different every week.

    You set your fluent and target languages on your profile, and the matching runs before the event. Either come and try, or send us an email beforehand and we can give you an idea of whether it is a likely language to be practised at that specific event.

  • You can invite friends to join Flip Lingoes. When they sign up, they receive a free first entry. If they attend an event, you’ll receive a credit in return.

    So far, we have no limit to how many friends you can invite and we appreciate you spreading the word!

    Each invite link is unique and must be generated individually per person. Do not send the same link to more than one person — you need to generate a new link each time, and it takes one second.

  • In 99% of cases we have a match.

    But, yes, it can happen that there’s no fluent speaker for your target language. In this case we offer to match you with others learning the same language — a French only, or a Spanish only group, for example.

    And if you are learning a rare language with nobody else present who is learning or can speak it, the best we can do is offer you a refund or a free entrance for your next event.

  • Yes, we make sure to always choose venues that are wheelchair accessible.

  • We are here to make this a fun and practical language learning experience. If you feel something could be better, or if you feel unsafe in any way, please let us know as soon as possible and we’ll sort the situation out.
